Portuguese Camino from Porto to Muxia

Here we go …

I anxiously await my Air Portugal flight to Porto. After 10 days of unexpected rest due to an infection, I find myself contemplating what lies ahead as I begin my Camino. Yet this past retirement year has transformed me—deepening my spirituality, wisdom, and faith.

I notice how I worry less now, more capable of embracing change with a quieter mind that seeks the treasures within. My happiness has grown as my faith has turned outward, seeking the good of others. Within me burns a greater desire for the divine!

My Camino plans have evolved—I’ll begin walking tomorrow rather than touring Porto, allowing for gentler distances these first days: 12 miles tomorrow and 17 miles the following day. The original 23-mile first day might have been unwise combined with the 80-degree Porto heat.

In this journey, as in life, I’m still learning the art of adaptation, slowly!

    Hi John,

It is amazing how little you are bringing for such a long arduous journey. You’re trusting in God’s Providence!

I love your reflection on the Law of the Gift! It is very fitting for Laetare (Rejoice) Sunday.
